Students can video and post a thirty second or less response on the classroom SeeSaw application over the read-aloud. This video may include a question(s) the student may have over the book, the overall reaction of the text read, or a written description of their favorite events.

Allow students to listen to the audio book of the assigned text. Encourage students to point to the words as they are being spoken and follow along with their eyes. Although the individual student is not reading aloud, they are still listening to a model of fluent reading!

Technology

TELLAGAMI is an iPad application allows students to create their own character that resembles themselves. From there, students are able to create a voiced message or a typed message (that a computer will speak). Students can use this to share their favorite quote(s) from the book they read.

Alternatively, students can use the app to share an assigned section of the read-aloud. To complete this, students will record themselves speaking the assigned section of the book, and present it to the class.

Document Camera

Use a doc-cam, also known as a document camera, to display the text and illustrations of the book to students from a larger scale; allow students to voluntarily read a page. Take this as an opportunity to have students read-aloud in different tones and characters!

Encourage students to use an online dictionary application or website to research unknown vocabulary words and definitions. This week ensure proper pronunciation!
